Words That Carry On (WTCO) is a fund dedicated to investing in mental health research. It was founded in 2018 by friends and family of Lindsay Riddoch.
Lindsay campaigned on personality disorders, autism and complex mental health needs. She lived and died with these conditions.
The fund had raised £100,000 by 2020 and in 2021 awarded its first research contract.
WTCO is a small organisation but we can have a large impact.
We continue to fundraise. There is still a huge amount we don’t know about personality disorders, autism and complex mental health needs, and WTCO will continue to fund research into delivering better responses, treatments and outcomes for those living with these conditions.
How we work
We believe that people’s lived experience of autism, and of being diagnosed with personality disorders or complex mental health, should be at the heart of our research and in attempts to improve support for service users.
This conviction is embedded in our research and demonstrated by our requirement for lived experience inclusion at all levels of the research process.
We are working with the McPin Foundation, a registered charity experienced in conducting research that puts people with lived experience of mental health problems at the heart of the process.
Together we engage individuals with lived experience, clinicians and professionals to refine the scope of research, ensure it is relevant and has a positive impact on improving experiences of mental health care.
The money we raise goes to a fund hosted by the McPin Foundation, which contributes expertise and administrative support.
We share updates with our donors on how their money is being spent and any research findings through our newsletter. Join our mailing list here.
